Join Subbed In for an evening of incroyable fun and impeccable nonsense as we launch Patrick Lenton’s new book, Uncle Hercules and other lies: 16 Essays about almost nothing.

Subbed In takes place on the stolen land and waterways of the Gadigal-Wangal people of the Eora Nation. We pay our respects to elders, past and present. This land was never ceded, sold, or given up. Always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

Access: Access to the venue is at street level and inside is a wide flat area. Access to toilets is up 4 concrete steps.

Drinks and food available.

The event is All Ages but minors must be accompanied by an adult.

ARTIST BIOS

Patrick Lenton

Patrick Lenton is the Entertainment Editor at Junkee, and the author of the book of short stories A Man Made Entirely of Bats. His fiction and essays have been published in The Best Australian Stories, Going Down Swinging, The Lifted Brow, Scum Mag, The Best Australian Comedy Writing, Growing Up Queer in Australia and more. As a journalist, he's written for The Guardian, VICE, and more. He is tragically online, and might be best known for his weird viral stories like Skyrim Dog, or his feud with Antoni from Queer Eye, which is depressing. He tweets @patricklenton.

Jordan Raskopoulos

Jordan Raskopoulos is an Australian comedian, actor, singer and social commentator. She is best known for being excellent and doing spectacular things.

Snake Pit

Improve powerhouse Snake Pit is Maddie Houlbrook-Walk, Concetta Caristo, and John Robles. Snake Pit has amassed a cult-following with their regular fortnightly shows at The Forresters in Surry Hills and has performed to sold out audiences at their special one-hour shows; Snake Bond (2017), Snakesgiving (2018) and EOFY Blow Out Sale (2019). 

Emma Wortley

Emma Wortley’s reviews, fiction and poetry have appeared in Voiceworks, Southerly, Paper Crown Magazine, and Scintilla Magazine. She tweets at @emkawo.

Hannah & Emma Jenkins

Emma is a smart person cosplaying as a stupid person for one full calendar year. 

Hannah has bested poetry on all battlefields except one: the live reading.
